It was a warm Saturday morning in February 2021, the kind that carried excitement in the air. The courtyard of Tunde Odunlade Art and Culture Connexions was already alive with chatter, drums, and anticipation. From one end to another, artists, designers, and lovers of all things Nigerian were setting up their stands, each piece telling a story of passion and identity.
And right there, for the first time, stood Afrikraft ready to show the world what African creativity looked like through our eyes.

For the first time we tried making Teddy bears with African prints.
The Made in Naija Expo, organized by Jadeas Trust under the inspiring leadership of Mrs. Yetunde Aina, in collaboration with Tunde Odunlade Art and Culture Connexions, became more than an event for us. It was the beginning of our story. It was our first time exhibiting, our first time hearing people pause to admire, touch, and ask questions about our work.
For two beautiful days ,Saturday and Sunday, we brought pieces that reflected who we are: expressive, rooted, and proudly African. We showcased everything from our signature Afri Bags to our playful experiments like African teddy bears and shoelaces wrapped in Ankara fabric. Watching people smile, laugh, and connect with our creations was deeply rewarding. It reminded us that fashion can be more than fabric, it can be a conversation.

We also explored African inspired shoe laces
We had unforgettable moments too. The gallery owner himself, Mr. Tunde Odunlade, stepped out rocking one of our Afri Bags, a gesture that filled our hearts with gratitude. And in a beautiful act of connection, we paid a visit to Mummy Ade-Ajayi, presenting her with a piece from our Afri Totes Collection, a token of appreciation wrapped in love and culture.
Mummy Ade-ajayi was paid a courtesy visit at her home.
Looking back, that weekend changed how we saw ourselves. It taught us that creativity thrives where community lives. It reminded us that when we share our craft with others, we share a piece of who we are.
Our debut at the Made in Naija Expo wasn’t just a trade fair, it was a celebration of beginnings, courage, and culture.
And from that moment on, we knew Afrikraft was more than a brand. It was a story, one stitched in pride, love, and African spirit.
